Spring Break Means Wisdom Teeth Removal
Spring break is a perfect time for wisdom teeth removal! With no school and plenty of time to recover, you’ll be as good as new before spring break is over.
First, you will need to schedule a surgical consultation so Dr. Oakley can examine the mouth. After the examination, Dr. Oakley can evaluate the position of the wisdom teeth and predict if there are any potential problems. During the time of your surgical consultation, you will be able to ask Dr. Oakley and our surgical team any questions or concerns about your surgery. Our treatment coordinator will gladly assist you with insurance questions and picking out a time and date for your wisdom teeth removal!
On the day of your procedure, you will take medications to help minimize post-operative pain and swelling. It is important that you have nothing to eat or drink (excluding prescription medications with a sip of water) for at least 6 hours (preferably longer) before your wisdom teeth surgery. It is also required that a parent or responsible adult accompanies you to the office and plans to stay with you the rest of the day. The procedure will take about 30 to 60 minutes and you will probably be in the office for 90 minutes.
During your wisdom teeth surgery, we make sure you are as comfortable as possible! Most patients prefer to be unaware of the experience and decide to be sedated. We will provide you with appropriate anesthesia options at your consultation. Our surgery team has the training, licensing, and experience to provide the various types of anesthesia. These services are provided in an environment of optimum safety, utilizing modern monitoring equipment and a well-trained experienced staff.
After your surgery, Dr. Oakley and team will go over post-operative instructions with your care taker. During this time we want to make sure we answer any questions you have and make you feel as comfortable as possible. Now, it’s time for you to sit back, relax, recover and enjoy your pint of Sheridan’s ice cream we provide for you after surgery!
We know this can be a lot of information. Please give our office a call at 913-722-3253 to discuss your wisdom teeth removal questions. We would love to help!
